Argument Against the Measure
This NKSD Levy is a New Additional Tax and Incomplete Plan
This is a new tax! If this proposed Levy is passed, NKSD will, for the very first time, have three Levies running concurrently! This new tax will cost owners of $500,000 homes an additional $387.00 in 2025 and $410.00 in 2026, on top of our already $800.00 annual school levy taxes. NKSD is using this Levy to keep tax rates up for two years until they can determine how to create a Capital Levy and/or Bond by 2026.
History: 2018 to 2023 Taxes provided over $67 Million for Capital Facilities and Technology
What criteria was used to spend your $67 Million? How did they prioritize critical issues without a comprehensive plan?
Is this Levy Trustworthy?
How do we trust this Levy? In February, the Pearson school location was not considered feasible for a new school. This Levy proposes a new gymnasium and drop-off/pick-up at Pearson’s current site, with no comprehensive plan, current designs, or cost breakdowns. With the 2024 Bond failure, NK Citizens sent a strong message to North Kitsap School District. We expect transparency and financial accountability. This proposed Levy fails to meet expectations. The Bond failure can not simply be placed on one person. Many Directors, Administrators, and Consultants were silent or complicit. Many of these same people helped create this $31,959,250 Levy.
